Over 80% of people who make New Year’s Resolutions give up . . . even as early as February. It’s not because their goals aren’t doable. It’s because most people don’t know how to build the habits of change into their lives.
I partnered with fellow behavior change and certified habit expert, Dr. Deborah Teplow, CEO and Co-Founder of the Institute for Wellness Education, for a one-hour workshop on how to build a system to actually achieve your 2020 New Year’s Resolutions. I’ve included the video below.
You’ll get powerful insights into how to create good behaviors that stick and the science behind it. Attendees also had an opportunity to share their questions and challenges with making their New Year’s Resolutions a reality.
We went over how to identify anchors for renewal. It doesn't just need to be the new year. It can be other events such as seasonal, religious, or even festivals like Burning Man. It can be a new week, a new day or a new moment.
We also discussed the four categories of how to choose what to do for your renewal goals:
Internal
Physical
Social
Occupational
Then we showed how to make them actually successful. Plus, we ended with traps and mistakes, and how to get back in the saddle after you fall off.
The full video is below, and we go in depth on all these topics and more in our online course, Be Your Own Best Coach: Shift Mindset. Change Behavior. Be Happier, Healthier, and Do More Stuff You Care About.
